Stuart Thompson (Limavady Grammar) the sole NW representatative on the U19 Ulster Schools' cricket team scored 61 runs against Leinster Schools' in the 2 day Inter Provincial match held at Osbourne Park on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th July.

The Ulster Schools' scored 227 for 7 in their allotted 55 overs with Stephen Leckey (MCB) 50, Richard McCarthy (RBAI) 32, Michael Heaney (MCB) 25 and Connor Shiel (Skerries CS) 2-22, Mark D'Arcy (Belvedere Col) 2-22. Leinster Schools' were bowled out for 170, Eddie Richardson's (Balbriggan CS) 86 was the mainstay of their innings and Mark Nixon (Bangor Gr) 3-21 and Stephen Bunting (BRA) 2-44 bowled well for Ulster Schools’.

With play scheduled to 7pm Ulster Schools' 2nd innings lasted just 8 overs, unfortunately Stuart Thompson was dismissed by C Shiel and the score finished on 15 for 1, a day 1 lead of 72 runs. Day 2 saw the quick dismissal of Stephen Leckey (8)  but Mark Nixon (40), James Shannon (35) and Michael Heaney's (25 no) contributions helped Ulster Schools'  reach 158 for 7 and declare with a 216 run lead. However even though Leinster Schools' were set this challenge in 38 overs the inclement weather prevented the challenge from ever really taking place and the match finished with Leinster Schools' 86 for 4 and a draw.

This moral victory for Ulster Schools' sets them up for their 4 match tour in northern England between 29th June and 3rd July. They play a 2 day game at Cleesthorpe against Lincolnshire U19s followed by South Yorkshire Police and then North Yorkshire Schools at Richmond.
