It’s the last-chance saloon for Scotland’s cricketers in the current ICC Intercontinental Cup competition, when they play Kenya over four days at Titwood next week, starting on Thursday August 7.

After weather problems wrecked their prospects almost before they had begun their campaign, Scotland currently lie in second place as they prepare to play their final match of the series, while other nations such as Kenya and Ireland have matches in hand. But, if Scotland defeat Kenya and other results conspire to assist, the Scots could yet reach the final of the competition which they won in its inaugural year (January 2003)

The Lloyds TSB Scotland squad announced today to face Kenya builds on those players who recently won Intercontinental Cup matches against Bermuda and Canada, though Colin Smith is rested, while Gordon Goudie is injured:

Ryan Watson (captain, Forfarshire); Richie Berrington, Dewald Nel (both Greenock); John Blain (Rotherham); Gordon Drummond (Watsonians); Majid Haq, Omer Hussain (Ferguslie); Dougie Lockhart (West of Scotland); Ross Lyons, Qasim Sheikh (Clydesdale); Neil McCallum (Grange); Fraser Watts (Carlton).

Head coach Peter Steindl said: "It’s a busy time for us just now, and we are currently focused on the Twenty20 tournament. But we look forward to playing Kenya, knowing that we have to win this, our final game to have any chance of reaching the I-Cup final."
