SECTION ONE
6 September
Bangor v Lisburn
Lisburn have clawed their way back into contention to stay up. Level with CIYMS, they will fight tooth and nail at Bangor to get a win ahead. Bangor will be mid table and have less to play for.
LISBURN WIN
CIYMS v Waringstown
De facto champions Waringstown won a high scoring affair with Bangor last week and have all but secured the title. CIYMS are in deep do-do, level with Lisburn, but in reality behind on last years results. They now need to win. Can’t see that against this Waringstown side.
WARINGSTOWN WIN
Instonians v Derriaghy
Inst must now feel doomed, 2 wins adrift at the bottom. Can they do the impossible and over haul Lisburn and CIYMS? They must get one of 3 wins in this match. Derriaghy have survived to their great credit. If they can keep the old heads together they will keep on surviving in the league too.
INST WIN
Woodvale v Lurgan
Lurgan again subsided to a horribly low batting total last week. 48 all out. Woodvale will not feel generous as they try to cement second place.
WOODVALE WIN
SECTION TWO
5 September
INTERMEDIATE CUP FINAL
“You never tip us, Gus!” so say Wesley Best of Laurelvale last Saturday. Not in the league Wesley, but at Moylena, in the cup final, I will. Muckamore may be weighed down with expectation and Laurelvale have been there before. That could make the difference.
LAURELVALE for the cup.
6 September
Carrickfergus v Armagh
Carrick must win this game or the title has realistically gone, but will never have a better chance than against a demoralised Armagh, whose firsts are also struggling. A shattering loss to Downpatrick last week will make Armagh look ever harder over their shoulders at Cooke Collegians.
CARRICK WIN
Cliftonville v Laurelvale
Cliftonville are safe and have done very well to turn their season around from their start. Laurelvale feel doomed and must realistically be that way. A match with little to play for but pride.
CLIFTONVILLE WIN
Downpatrick v Cooke Collegians
A real crunch match for both sides as the season draws to a close. Downpatrick’s win last week against Armagh puts them in the driving seat and being a relegated side is like an away goal, it counts double in this situation. Cooke Collegians’ win against Laurelvale came just in time to arrest the slide and they must win again to stay up.
DOWNPATRICK WIN
Holywood v Muckamore
Two mid table sides, but Muckamore may still covet a promotion spot. Holywood will lack that motivation and could also be suffering if they win the rearranged cup final on Friday.
MUCKAMORE WIN
SECTION THREE
6 September
Dundrum v Portadown
Dundrum may still covet the second promotion place, but is their ground fit for play? Portadown may find out on Saturday. If it is, expect a home win.
DUNDRUM WIN
Saintfield v Donacloney
The Saintfield team will look to put clear water between themselves and Donacloney.
Level on wins, this match is one with real edge. Whoever comes out on top will go up.
SAINTFIELD WIN
