After one of the worst summers in memory and with many critics of his work Philip McCormick has come away from Lords with a Cricket World & Pitchcare Cricket Groundsman of the Year Award for 2008.
The Holywood CC Club Captain and head groundsman at NICSSA, home to Civil Service North and Ireland, was one of four groundsmen to receive an award at the home of cricket, Lords.
After almost missing the presentation due to his flight to Gatwick being cancelled and then flying into Stansted – Philip arrived at Lords in time to collect the award as ICC Europe groundsman of the year.
It’s a proud time for Philip and well deserved. The full story can be found on the Cricket Ireland website.
Congratulations Philip from the Northern Cricket Union.
