LAUNCH OF PLACES FOR SPORT: SURFACES 08-09

Sport NI is pleased to announce the launch of a new capital programme, Places for Sport: Surfaces 08-09.

The deadline for applications for the programme will be 4pm on Friday 17th October 2008. The project must be completed, with the grant already paid out by 31st March 2009.

This programme will be a quick spend option for clubs, organizations, local and education authorities who have the following elements already in place:

• Planning permission secured
• Partnership funding available
• Own their own site, either outright or through lease, for a period of no less than 21 years.
• The following items are eligible under this programme:

Pitches

• Specialist sports surfaces
• Floodlighting on second and training pitches
• Floodlighting on main pitches only where the facility is of strategic importance to the Governing Body.

Application forms and Guidance notes and templates are available to download from the Sport NI website, www.sportni.net.  It is suggested you read through these Information & Guidance notes carefully before contacting Sport NI as it is hoped that any questions you have may be answered within the guidance notes.

This programme is not the Places for Sport: Surfaces programme which was open for consultation during August.  No budget has yet been confirmed for this proposed programme but you will be informed by email if this funding programme is launched.
