Cricket Scotland’s website broke its own record of ‘hits’ twice during the summer of 2008 - and for the first time registered more than half a million visits in a month.
In June, a total of 437,744 ‘page impressions’ were recorded, which was 18% higher than the previous record set in July 2007. Then, after an almost identical July this year, yet another high-water mark was set in August - the month of the first Scotland v England One-Day International - with 567,212 page impressions, another hike of 29%.
Overall, the four months of the Scottish summer saw a total of 1,767,261 web visits to www.cricketscotland.com - almost one-third more than in 2007.
After a comparatively quiet 2007-8 winter, the statistics for the calendar year 2008 are nevertheless on track by the end of this month to set another annual record - for the fifth year in a row.
The annual total is heading for around 2.75 million page impressions, compared to just 625,000 in 2004.
Roddy Smith, chief executive of Cricket Scotland, said: "As the figures demonstrate, the web is an increasingly important way for us to serve and communicate with the Scottish cricket community."
