China's debut in international cricket finally came today, and it was very much an anti-climax as they were thrashed by Iran, who had never previously won an international.

Iran won the toss and elected to bat first and put on 149 before losing their first wicket in the 26th over. Shirmohammad Baloochnezhad stayed in to score 119 - Iran's first international century, but he was outdone by his captain Nariman Bakhitar who clubbed 120 from just 66 balls.

Iran went on to score 369/6 in their 50 overs, China not helping their cause by sending down 44 runs in wides. Dong Chao was the pick of the bowlers with 2/60 from his eight overs.

Chao was also the top Chinese run scorer, making 16 in China's reply. That was the only double digit innings for China though, with the exception of 20 in extras, and they were bundled out for just 62 in the 24th over of their innings, losing by 307 runs.

China will be hoping that they can bounce back against Thailand on Thursday and against the Maldives on Saturday, otherwise even more questions will be asked with regards to the ICC and ACC's development program in the country.

In the today's other match, 2006 ACC Trophy whipping boys Myanmar came up against Brunei. Myanmar actually showed some improvement from their dire performance in 2006, scoring 152/9 from their 50 overs. The total is their highest in their modern incarnation - as Burma they scored 482/9 against Ceylon back in 1912.

The total wasn't enough though, as Brunei knocked off the runs required in 33 overs, winning by seven wickets.

Today's winners won't have much time to rest though as tomorrow's matches will see Iran play the Maldives and Bhutan take on Brunei.
