Aberdeenshire held their nerve to clinch a one wicket win against Grange in the opening round of the Scottish Cup. A last wicket stand of 38 betwen Richie Lamb (35*), and West (10*) got them over the finishing line, but Grange were authors of their own misfortune, conceding 31 extras, 22 of them wides.

Earlier Brad Rodden had made 46, while James Hearn (4-38) and Wilson (3-25) both bowled well. Charles Coles with 95 was the mainstay of the Grange total of 191 for 7, sharing in a half century stand with Neil McCallum (34). Alas, his efforts proved to be in vain.

Gordon Drummond hit a match winning 75 as Carlton overhauled a Watsonians total of 234/7, getting home with 3 wickets and seven balls to spare.He was well supported by James Kerr (46) and Cedric English (44). Earlier Euan Stubbs (85), and Ewan Chlamers (67) had scored the bulk of the runs for Watsonians.

A magnificent 132 from Said helped McTaggart & Mickel Renfrew overcome the challenge of Drumpellier by 6 runs, while Ayr put their poor league form behind them to beat Kelburn by 6 wickets - MacDonald's unbeaten 68 seeing them win comfortably.

An unbeaten century from Pravajan Mullick was instrumental in Ferguslie's five wicket win over Stenhousemuir, while D Pitt's undefeated 92 helped Prestwick beat Dumfries by 54 runs.

Tom Plant's unbeaten 133 saw Uddingston rack up 295-5, which was 123 too many for Weirs. Tony Judd took the nail out of the boots, and his comeback was a successful one as he took 3 for 38 as Stirling were dismissed for 169 - Glenn Rogers top scoring with 45. That proved no trouble to the powerful Greenock batting line up, as they lost just the two wickets. Cameron Borgas (47*), Willie Rowan (46*), and Richie Berrington (37) the main contributors.

A solid batting display by McCrea FS West saw them rack up a formidable 264 against West Lothian - Dougie Lockhart (38), Andy Ellis (55), and Ian Young (39) the main run scorers. That proved 69 too many for Lothian, despite Fleming's unbeaten 59.

Penicuik bowed out by virtue of a 62 run defeat by Forfarshire. Ryan Watson top scored with 47 in Forfar's total of 218, with Keith Morton claiming 5 for 39. Morton made an unbeaten 35, but apart from Coleman's 48, none of the others made an impression, with Black (3-29), the most successful of the bowlers.

Half centuries from Gray (86), and Reddy (63) saw Dunfermline beat Freuchie by 6 wickets, while Richardson's unbeaten 81 saw Arbroath thrash Corstorphine by 9 wickets.

SMRH ran up the highest score of the day, making 305-6, with Dunbar (98), Moran (79), and Bissett (52) all among the runs. That was 85 too mnay for the Academicals, in spite of Cosh making a superb 103. There was better fortunes for Edinburgh, who shocked Stoneywood-Dyce by 70 runs. Javed's 5 for 46 skittling them for 144 in pursuit of 215 for victory.

Stevie Knox's prolific start to the season continued as he made 106 as Heriots overhauled a modest Falkland total of 197 - Thakkar's 80 being primarily responsible for them getting there. Knox has now scored 497 runs thus far for the season, and harbours genuine aspirations of reaching the magical 1000 run mark.

The Poloc versus Clydesdale tie didn't get started, much to the chagrin of Poloc skipper Brian Spence. He's threatened to call it a day, after disagreeing with the umpires decision that the run ups were unsafe.
