The South Asian Games cricket tournament continued today, with the Maldives taking on hosts Bangladesh in the first match of the day at Mirpur.

Bangladeshi keeper-captain Mohammad Mithun won the toss and put the Maldives into bat. He then watched from behind the stumps as his bowlers sliced through the Maldives batting line-up like the proverbial hot knife through butter.

Shuvashish Roy started the rout with four wickets for six runs at the top of the innings as the Maldives crashed to 10-6. Hassan Ibrahim held on for the longest stay at the crease, lasting 22 balls for his unbeaten five. Sabbir Rahman, who played at the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup, polished things off with two wickets in his only over.

The Maldives were bowled out for just 26, with extras being the top scorer with six. Bangladesh wasted little time going after that target, reaching it in 14 balls for the loss of two wickets.

In the other game of the day, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by six wickets. The Maldives will play Sri Lanka tomorrow, whilst Bangladesh will play Pakistan.
