The revenge for defeat in the Intercontinental Cup last week was very sweet. Kenya wiped the floor with the Scots in their T20 Tri-Series fixture at Nairobi Gymkhana today, winning by 10 wickets with 7.3 overs to spare.

Put in, Fraser Watts and Ryan Watson got Scotland off to a decent start, but when three wickets fell with the score on 47, including a careless run out, the visitors became unstuck.

After 15 overs they had declined to 75 for 7, bamboozled by the spin of Shem Obado, Steve Tikolo and Jimmy Kamande, who got two wickets in one over. Obado and Tikolo both were hard to get away as the Scots pushed on to 109 for 9, finishing with a final flourish and a six from the last ball.

David Obuya and Tikolo then took the game by the scruff of the neck with a spell of massive hitting, Obuya being particularly vicious. Thirteen runs off the first over by Dewald Nel set the tone and, by the time there was a hunt behind the stands for a lost ball, 29 runs had been scored in just 1.5 overs.

It was 44 runs off four overs, 55 off five and 66 off six before calm was temporarily restored with a maiden over from Majid Haq.

David Obuya's 50 came off 36 balls; he finished on 60 not out and Tikolo was on 45 when he hit the winning run.

Scotland will no doubt see the defeat as a temporary lapse after their eight-wicket win last week, but the Kenyans appear reinvigorated and the second T20 game between the two sides on Thursday could be a tense battle.

Kenya 110 for no wicket in 12.3 overs (DO Obuya 60 not out, SO Tikolo 46 not out) defeated Scotland 109 for 9 (20 overs) by 10 wickets.
