Winning King's Hospital teamAn inspired all round performance by Des Merrey helped King's Hospital to their first Leinster Senior Scool's Cup final win in 63 years, as they defeated St Columba's by four wickets.

Batting first, St Columba's totalled 173-9, thanks primarily to a superb 85 form Robin Russell. He received good support from Dalton Tice (24),a nd Patrick Tice (23).

Merrey (3-40), and Tom Satchwell (2-42) were the pick of the King's Hospital attack.

Merrey followed up his exploits with the ball by top scoring with a well manufactured 46, and Paul Lawson (20) also batted well in the chase.

Tom Satchwell (27*) soothed the frayed nerves, as the target was reached with four wickets in hand.

For St Columba's Tom Gibbs (2-19), and James Bowlby (2-21) both toiled manfully, but ultimately in a losing cause.
