Cricket Ireland have named a squad of 13 which will take part in the Loughborough Challenge against Scotland and England Under 17's next month.
Limavady all-rounder Stuart Thompson captains the side, made up primarily of Under 19 players past and present.
Cricket Ireland Operations Director Mark Garaway explained the squad composition: "The opportunity arose to compete in the Loughborough Challenge in World Class facilities at Loughborough University and the ECB National Cricket Performance Centre.
"With the Under 17 Squad away competing in Holland I decided to put together an Academy side which is made up of players from last years Under 19 World Cup Squad and players who have impressed during the Under 18 European Championships in Belfast this last week.
"Jason van der Merwe has been in great recent form and earned his promotion into this squad. He joins a strong and experienced squad including Ireland A team players Shane Getkate, Stuart Thompson as well as Middlesex CCC keeper Stuart Poynter and Sussex CCC fast bowler Craig Young. It is an exciting group of players who will tested by Scotland and the up and coming England Under 17's."
