Ireland A toiled manfully in a rain affected first day of their three day game at Bristol against Gloucestershire's second string.
Gloucestershire plodded along for most of the day, reaching 122 for 2 in 50.4 overs, before heavy rain brought play to a premature end.
Debutant Eugene Moleon bowled with plenty of pace, but with little luck, beating the bat with regularity. His opening partner Shane Getkate enjoyed greater fortune, capturing the wickets of Jon Batty and Kadeer Ali.
Richard Coughtrie scored an unbeaten 63 from 149 balls (10 fours), sharing in an unbroken third wicket stand of 90 with the obdurate Michael Beard, who crawled his way to 32 not out from 105 balls.
If there is to be a result in the game, a much more positive display will be required in the next two days.
