Denmark look for revenge
This weekend's T20 Nordic Cup is the final preparation for Denmark before the ICC Europe 1. division T20 in Jersey in a fortnight's time. Even though the Danes will be without star batsmen Michael Pedersen and Frederik Klokker we expect some tightly fought contests. Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland will fight it out at Svanholm Park for 2 days. All we can hope for is some decent weather after Copenhagen was heavily flooded on Saturday after the worst torrential rain ever recorded.
With Michael Pedersen missing it means that Bobby Chawla will be taking over the role as captain. He's tried it before so he is no chicken and the rest of the team will be hoping to give him a Nordic championship as a wedding present as Bobby gets married in USA in August.
The other interesting thing about this championship is the rumour stated in one of the Danish newspapers that Ole Mortensen will be taking over as Norway's coach. If it's true it will be interesting to see if Ole can pull Norway upwards after their relegation to ICC's 8th division and regain the the T20 title from last year.
Denmark will also be without their left-arm spinner Bashir Shah so the workload in the slow department will be born by Bobby Chawla and Hamid Shah who has returned to the side after an absence.
The Danish squad is :
Bobby Chawla (cpt)
Kasper Rubin Hansen
Theo Cupido (wck)
