Scottish company to screen T20 qualifiers
The Scottish company, Quipu TV, has reached agreement with all the 16 participating countries in next week's World T20 qualifying tournament in Dubai and will now be providing extensive coverage of the event, which pits the best of the ICC Associates and Affiliates against one another in a frantic schedule, with only the winners and runners-up gaining entry to the full World T20 competition in Sri Lanka later this year.
Mike Stanger, who works for Quipu TV, confirmed that his organisation will be producing live coverage of 14 of the pool stage matches and will be providing more than 100 hours of action in the space of seven days. The original rights-holder, ESPN Star Sports, has decided to do a similar streaming operation of the final stage of the tournament, meaning that many of the teams are likely to receive their biggest-ever audience.
The ICC is meeting most of the costs of this unique broadcasting operation.
Further details about the schedule will be unveiled in the next few days.
