Limavady and Ireland A player Stuart Thompson is currently playing for Somerset Second XI in their ongoing County Championship match with Surrey at Reigate.

The game didn't start too well for Somerset who were skittled for just 75 by a very strong London side, who bolstered their ranks with a number of first teamers.

Thompson, batting at number five, had the consolation of top scoring for Somerset, making 20.

There is of course an Irish connection at Somerset, where Thompson's former Ireland Under World Cup colleague George Dockrell has firmly established himself in the ranks.

Thompson's father Nigel is a former Irish international, having played 18 times between 1988 and 1992.

Although the game finishes on Friday, Thompson isn't expected to return to his club side in time for their crucial clash with Strabane this weekend.
