Dockrell and McCarter miss Ireland Under 19 preparation match
Ireland Under 19's have named their squad for their first game of what promises to be a busy international summer, which of course culminates in the Under 19 World Cup in Australia this August.
Skipper George Dockrell has become a regular fixture for his county Somerset, while fellow all-rounder Graeme McCarter has broken into the Gloucestershire senior ranks in the past few weeks. Neither will be available for the fixture against the Ulster Grasshoppers.
In their absence, the side will be captained by Pembroke all-rounder Barry McCarthy who was a little surprised by the elevation, but naturally honoured: "Iím delighted to have been named captain of the Irish Under 19ís for the match against the Ulster Grasshoppers. It came as a surprise to me but I feel that I can do a good job deputising as captain in Georgeís absence."
The Under 19's are scheduled to meet MCC at Carrickfergus on June 15, and in July face Scotland in the ICC European Challenge Series as well as England in two U19 ODI's, which will be shown live on Sky Sports.
The squad in full for the game at Waringstown on Friday June 1 (11:30am start) is as follows:
