In the Sperrin Springs Cup Killyclooney recorded their first win of the season in a high scoring game at home to Burndennett. A swashbuckling half century from Greg Stewart that contained 6 fours and 4 sixes set them on their way and 45 from Alan Colhoun and 29 from Sammy McElhatton saw their innings close on 181 for 8.
Burndennett have been in good form of late but although several of Mark Doherty's men got decent starts no-one was able to push on and win the game. Aidan Boyle's 32 was best and try though they did the visitors came up just 4 runs short in the end.
No such problems for Eglinton who made it two wins from two matches with an emphatic win at Ardmore. Christopher Pierce was a man in form as the big opener banged 6 fours and 6 sixes on his way to 91 while Stephen Smyth was very composed in adding a half century that saw the villagers make 178 for 3.
Out of sorts Ardmore were rarely in the hunt after that and only Adrian Murphy with 24 offered any resistance as Ross Allen with 3 wickets and Nigel Thompson with 2 closed out a facile win. Watch out for young Allen as the season progresses, the spinner very close to becoming a regular in the senior ranks.
