Another day, another starring role for an Irishman in the County Championship as current Ireland skipper William Porterfield helped Warwickshire recover from a precarious position to assume control of their clash with Surrey.
Needing 222 to win, Warwickshire slumped to 37 for 4, with Gareth Batty causing problems.
However Porterfield scored 66 in a century partnership with Tim Ambrose - Warwickshire's 8th of the season - before being trapped lbw by Batty.
Warwickshire closed the day on 181 for 5, requiring 41 runs on the final morning to complete the win and go top of the Championship above Somerset.
