Ireland's women continued their unbeaten run in the ECB County Championship when they recorded a comprehensive 9 wicket win against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.

Kim Garth proved the star with the ball claiming 3 for 17, with Elena Tice taking 2 for 25. Shauna Kavanagh, Melissa Scott-Hayward, Isobel Joyce and Laura Cullen all took a wicket each as Northants managed just 135 all out in 38.4 overs.

Laura Tonks top scored with the home side for 19, while Amy Gauvritt and Patricia Hankins each scored 17, and Faridi Bibi 14.

The total was boosted by the concession of 50 extras by Ireland, including 34 wides and 8 no balls.

That profligacy wasn't to prove costly as Ireland romped to the win with just the loss of Cecelia Joyce (11) in 26 overs.

Clare Shillington scored an undefeated 81, hitting 12 fours in her 78 ball innings.

She shared an unbroken second wicket partnership of 99 with Isobel Joyce, who made 30 not out.

Ireland Women are next in action when they take part in a T2O series involving England and India at Loughborough later this month.
