Leinster edge out Merrion in thriller
Leinster hopes of securing their first Senior One title since 1998 received a massive boost whe they edged a thrilling five run win against Merrion at Anglesea Road.
Defending 201, Leinster look to have lost to an inspired innings by John Anderson, who had made 89 as Merrion reached 196 with four wickets and 25 balls remaining.
Joel Leacock however removed Anderson whose 89 came from 126 balls (7 fours, 1 six) and in a dramtic tiurn of events, the remaining three wickets fell in four balls to leave the Rathmines side ecstatic.
Damian Poder (30) was one of those victimes, while Tim Lang (25) was the other contributor of note. MacDonnell, Leacock and Carroll each claimed two wickets.
In a steady batting display, the main run scorers for Leinster were Leacocok (43), Mallon (29), Scholtz (22) and O'Dwyer (20*), while Shimmons, Anderson, Blakeney and Joyce each picked up two wickets.
