TRENT Johnston will make his first representative appearance of the season in next week's ‘A’ international against Scotland in Glasgow.

The former Ireland captain, now 38, has been easing his way back to full fitness after his injury and bowled for the first time this season for his new club, YMCA, late last month.

With the one-day international against Australia at Stormont coming up two weeks tomorrow, the three-day game at Uddingston, starting on Tuesday, will allow Johnston to get quality overs under his belt before he leads the attack against the world’s No 1 one-day side.

For the third successive game, Max Sorensen has been named in the A team and, after two unsuccessful visits to the visa office, he is expected to be able to travel with the team on Monday.

The star of the record-breaking fourth innings chase of 414 against Gloucestershire II last month, Andrew Balbirnie, is unavailable for next week’s game, as is opening batsman Ben Ackland. Both players have university exams that week.

There are recalls for Lee Nelson, Tom Fisher and Andrew Poynter who played in the defeat against Kent II but were unavailable for the game in Bath.
