Eglinton had an early opportunity to bounce back from Saturday's defeat at St Johnston when they put their unbeaten league record on the line at home to Sion Mills on Sunday.

It was slow and steady progress from the visitors early on before a Simon Galloway half century and 34 from Andy Lucas helped them to up the ante a little in the middle to late overs. Johnny Gardiner has been in excellent form for the villagers all season and he helped himself to 3 wickets here, as did Jamie Millar and Stephen Smyth as Sion set the title favourites a target of 180 to win.

The visitors' bowling has been a little light despite their decent start to the season and the Eglinton batsmen took full advantage to ease to a 7-wicket win. Richard Wylie top scored with 66, his second such score in two days although this one was unbeaten while Christopher Pierce made 56 and his young brother Andrew, 30.

The comfortable win moves Karl O'Doherty's team back alongside Drummond at the top of the table and on course to contest the end of season play-off for Division 1 status.

At Eglinton, Sion Mills 179-10-48.2 (S Galloway 56, A Lucas 24, J Millar 3-27, J Gardiner 3-29, S Smyth 3-39) lost to Eglinton 183-3-35.5 (R Wylie 66*, C Pierce 56, A Pierce 30) by 7 wickets.
