Cricket was wrecked by the torrential rain at the end of last week. There was no play at all in the Standard Bank Premiership on Saturday and the Island game against the MCC on Friday was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

On Thursday evening the Island had lined up against the MCC in a T20 fixture sponsored by Isle of Man Bank. This had to be stopped after eleven overs due to the downpour. The Manx were then in a good position having scored 69 for 2. Opener Gareth Morris had made 21, Max Stokoe was 16 not out and Phil Littlejohns 13 not out.

Earlier in the week the Under 21 side had played well against the visitors who scored 146 for 5 from their thirty-three overs. Rudra Singh hit 53, Joe Burrows took 2 -11 and Nick White 2 -25.

Opener Carl Wagstaff got the juniors away to a good start before being trapped lbw by Gareth Williams. Brendan Coleman and Andy Vels both hit 17, but the home team were dismissed for 133, falling just 13 runs short of victory.

The Thursday evening monsoon also wiped out the Standard Bank Blincoe Cup tie between Peel B and Ramsey B. It will now go ahead this coming Thursday, June 21.

The other Blincoe ties, played on Wednesday, saw Valkyres B defeat St Johns B, Crosby B beat Ronaldsway and Finch Hill lose to Union Mills. In that match the Millers scored 228 for 6 with Bruce Wagstaff cracking 105 not out. Finch Hill replied with a creditable 160 for 6, thanks to a fine 56 from Marc Furness 56.
