Valkyres are through to the final of the Standard Bank Tinker Cup. They beat Ramsey by 38 runs in Sunday’s semi-final at Tromode.
Batting first, Valkyres were indebted to a big stand for the third wicket between Andy Stokes and Tom Reader. Andy scored 46 and Tom made 41 before the Northerners hit back with Shaun Kelly taking 3 for 25 and Nick White 2 for 24.
The Douglas side were dismissed for 156 and in reply Ramsey openers Eddie Cleator and Marc Pons-Burt started out confidently. However Eddie was trapped for 14 and Marc went for a well-struck 29. Valkyres now got on top as skipper Zubair Siddiqi claimed 3 for 42.
Then any hopes of a Ramsey recovery were dashed by Tom Reader who destroyed the middle order with 4 for 11. The northerners ended on 118 – 38 runs short of their target.
The other semi between St John’s and Cronkbourne was posponed due to a water-logged outfield
