Yet more rain put paid to any chance of play in the matches involving Limavady and Coleraine and Brigade v Donemana on Tuesday evening but there was plenty of action in the two other games in Division 1 of the North West league.
Bready continued their fine run when accounting for Creevedonnell in a high scoring contest on the Curryfree Road in a match that saw no fewer than 32 sixes scored. Kyle Morrow hit 5 in making a half century for the home side while skipper Scroggie (32), Myles Neely (24) and Gary Neely (22) all found the ditch in a very competitive 177 for 5 in their 20 overs. It was hardly a night for bowling but Adam Warnock with 3-34 and Agha Sabir 0-18 from 4 overs emerged with most credit for the cup holders. Bready's reply got off to a flier but they were dealt a blow when David Rankin went down with a nasty looking knee injury and had to retire hurt. Bryan Scanlon used his opportunity at the top of the order to join in the sixes count, the Bready all-rounder clubbing 10 of them on his way to a very entertaining 86. Agha Sabir's 43 and an unbeaten 22 from Brian Crumley steered Bready home with 8 wickets and 4 overs to spare as they moved to the top of the table alongside Donemana and Coleraine.
Strabane have a chance to join them but the Red Caps will have to bowl really well when battle resumes at Ballymagorry on Wednesday evening after they were bowled out for 199 by Jonny Robinson's side. It was a strange looking Strabane team sheet too; no Niall, McDonnell or Kevin Martin at the top of the order and more worryingly no Phil Eaglestone or Martin Deans at the other end. Mark Gillespie hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in making 53 while replacement professional Waqar Orakzai added 37 but 4 wickets for skipper Robinson saw to it that Strabane were kept just under the 200 barrier. The hosts will surely fancy their chances from here when the game resumes particularly with the Red Caps' seam options looking very exposed.
At Creevedonnell, Bready beat Creevedonnell by 8 wickets
