CHRISTIE MEMORIAL WIN THE ASDA COLERAINE KWIK CRICKET FESTIVAL
Christie Memorial Primary School are the Asda Coleraine Kwik Cricket champions for 2012. The Coleraine school have now held the trophy for the past five years with many of their past pupils going on to play for Coleraine Cricket Club.
Christie overcame the challenge of Portrush PS in the final in what turned out to be a great days cricket hosted at Coleraine Cricket Club.
With teams also coming from Cullycapple PS, Castleroe PS, Kilrea PS, Millburn PS, Irish Society PS and Killowen PS, resulting in over 100 boys and girls taking part.
Many of these children have attended the Friday night coaching programme at the Club. Asda once again sponsored the Festival and their support for Kwik Cricket has been invaluable and Sheila Palmer, Asda was on hand to present the trophy to winning captain Marcus Poskitt.
The competition was organised by Coleraine Cricket Club and Coleraine Borough Council’s Sports Development Unit.
Unfortunately due to the weather the National Finals at Stormont was cancelled but no doubt Christie will be back to defend their Coleraine title next year.
