Boyd helps Donemana lift Intermediate A Cup
Down at Eglinton the Intermediate A final turned out to be a run feast as Donemana and Bready took advantage of ideal batting conditions.
The Holm men took use first and Jimmy Britton (72) and Graeme Boyd (70) helped them recover from a slow start to post a daunting 289 for 8. Conor Olphert helped himself to three wickets while there were two each for Jordan Austin and David Lecky.
The Magheramason side's reply started positively with a half century from Ryan Barr while brothers Nigel and Simon Campbell added 35 apiece and Lee Kelly 30. Ritchie McBrine finished with three wickets and Robert Huey two however as Donemana bowled Bready out for 242.
With a lead of 47 Christopher Neely's side then piled on the pressure, Boyd again at the top of his game with a knock of 93 that was to earn him the man-of-the-match gong.
Lee Britton with 45 and McBrine (38) helped them to 265 all out as Jordan Austin claimed 4 for 39 all of which meant that Bready needed a huge 313 to lift the cup.
And they gave it a real go too, David Murdock hitting 17 fours in a superb century that gave his side a fighting chance. Ryan Barr chipped in with 33 but three more wickets for McBrine and a couple for Lee Britton saw Donemana take the trophy with 54 runs to spare.
