GORDON Drummond is out of tomorrow’s (Sun) CB40 clash with Glamorgan.

The Saltires skipper, who led the side to an historic T20 win over Bangladesh on Tuesday, is unable to travel to Cardiff due to work commitments.

Preston Mommsen, who captained the team for the first time against Somerset a fortnight ago, will again take the reins.

Coach Pete Steindl said: “It’s frustrating for Drummo but it allows us to give Preston some more experience of captaining the team.

“He did well in his first game and we believe he has some really good attributes for the role – he is a leader.”

Stoneywood-Dyce all-rounder Jan Stander also misses tomorrow’s clash through work commitments.

Watsonians batsman Ewan Chalmers is drafted into the squad along with Clydesdale pace bowler Safy Sharif who returns for the first time since sustaining a rib injury in March.

Calvin Burnett, the young Arbroath all-rounder, could also make his first appearance of the season.

Steindl added: “For us the CB40 competition is seen as an opportunity to look at players who are not yet fully established in the side.

“That is what we plan to do during the last few games of the campaign but it is important to build on the momentum we gained from beating Bangladesh.

“We will concentrate on the quality of our performance.”

The Saltires are bidding to end a sequence of five straight defeats to county opposition.
