CLONTARF duly collected their sixth RSA Leinster Senior Cup this century with a comfortable six wicket win over Pembroke.
Needing just 100 off 21 overs, a man-of-the-match 56no off 55 balls by Andrew Poynter saw them home at a sunny Claremont Road. The Irish cap hit 6 fours and a six as he took apart the Pembroke spinners who struggled to bowl a consistent length.
Poynter was backed up by Alex Cusack (17) in a stand of 37 off the first eight overs, and when Cusack was out 64 was still needed.
But there are few cooler heads than Eoghan Delany, who never looked uncomfortable as he compiled 27not out before Poynter crashed the winning four to the wall at the newly-christened Wes Earl End.
The game was marred on Saturday by some unsavoury on-field incidents, which were condemned in his speech by YMCA President Derek Dockrell.
CLONTARF beat Pembroke by 6 wickets
