Netherlands gain revenge against Ireland
A vastly improved all-round display by The Netherlands saw them record an ultimately comfortable six wicket win against their Irish counterparts in Utrecht on Wednesday.
Having won the toss Ireland's openers got their side off to a steady start with Aaron Kennedy (17) and Rory O'Keefe (11) puttng on 32. However the Dutch bowlers fought back strongly, bowling much tighter lines on a helpful track,
32 without loss became 60 for 6 as the Dutch attack took a stranglehold on the game. Paddy Park hit a brisk 22, sharing in a 36 run stand with Mark Adair who top scored with 31 (4 fours).
The last three Irish wickets fell with the total on 115 to leave the Dutch teenagers a very modest target to chase.
Asad Saleemi (3-9), Daniel Doram (3-17) and Ali Ahmed (2-31) were the pick of the very disciplined home side attack.
Shaquille Martina (19) and EA Din (23) got their team off to a solid start and completely nullified the Irish bowlers.
Ru Jones (3-16) gave the visitors a glimmer of hope but Asad Saleemi's unbeaten 26 ensured the six wicket win was secured with plenty to spare.
