Cricket Scotland has today announced the squad for the upcoming Clydesdale Bank 40 match with Durham at Uddingston this Sunday (5 August).
As the competition winds down for the Saltires, the team will be looking to produce a solid performance, in this the penultimate match of their CB40 campaign.
Bothwell Castle will host it’s fourth CB40 encounter of the competition thus far as the game was moved from it’s original venue at the Citylets Grange, Edinburgh, which is currently unplayable due to flooding.
Scotland will be boosted by the news that Gordon Drummond returns to skipper the side after missing out on last week’s clash with Glamorgan at Cardiff due to work commitments. Safyaan Sharif will be pushing for a first team start after recently returning from a knee injury.
After the elation of a historic victory over Bangladesh, the Scots were brought back down to earth after an eight-wicket defeat to the Welsh Dragons and captain Drummond will be hoping for a positive response from his charges:
“We have two games left in this competition and need to put in a performance in these last two fixtures, and make sure that we are confident in the type of cricket we want to play. We have been a little bit inconsistent this season and we are desperate to put in a complete performance like we did against Bangladesh and finish the season on the high.”
After taking on Durham, the Saltires will conclude their CB40 campaign with another match at Uddingston on August 19th against Somerset.
