Burndennett defeat Drummond to move third
Burndennett moved clear in third place of the Long's SuperValu North West league on Thursday night after completing a 3-wicket win over Drummond.
Mark Doherty's side resumed on 89 for 5 needing 65 more to win after the first evening's play and it was the not out batsmen that were to make the difference. Aiden Boyle only added 8 to his overnight score but his 33 was valuable in setting up the win but it was his partner Eddie McGettigan who took it home with an unbeaten 46.
With Damien Carlin bowled out, Mark Averill did his best with 2 for 14 but this was a big win for last season's basement side who now have just the Saints and Eglinton above them in the table.
The defeat however marks a huge turnaround in fortune for Gordon Cooke's side who now haven't won in the league since posting that 425 at Killyclooney, exactly two months ago.
Burndennett 155-7-28.2 (E McGettigan 46*, A Boyle 33, S McCay 22, D Carlin 3-42, M Averill 2-14)
