A battling half-century by Kevin McLaren propelled Heriot's into the Scottish Cup Final at the expense of capital rivals Carlton.

In a rain-affected contest at Goldenacre, the visitors were stranded on 65 for two when the match was abandoned.

Heriot's had reached 198 all out with McLaren hitting 57. He was given stout support by Sean Weeraratna (44) and Steve Knox (36), with Mike Herdman emerging as the pick of the Carlton attack (three for 26).

Herdman was undefeated on 37 when the weather intervened.

Heriot's will face Stenhousemuir or Watsonians in the final at Titwood. Their semi at the Tryst was washed out.
