7 Up For McCoubrey, Porterfield 32 v Yorkshire

Barry Chambers

Former Ballymena and current Irish International fast bowler Adrian Mc Coubrey starred for Essex over the past three days in their win over Cambridge UCCE.  He took no fewer than 7 wickets in the match,  with 4 for 16 in the first innings - indeed the first 4 wickets to fall, and followed that up by taking 3 for 56 in the second innings. Once again he did the early damage taking the first three wickets to fall. All in all a very satisfying perfomance for the Ballymena man and a very encouraging start to the season.

Ireland Under 19 World Cup captain William Porterfield was also in impressive form for the Leeds/Bradford Centre of Cricketing Excellence against Yorkshire County Cricket Club. The Donemana player recovered from making a duck in the first innings to score 32 in the second innings against the legendary Yorkshire club. In addition he took two catches in the match.
