the coverage of the odi's in aberdeen by both reporting scotland and bbc scotland has been good. even sky sports ran brief highlights of the scotland games - the question is , will gordon brown put enough pressure on fellow politicians to make the bbc and sky aware of the interest in this historic fixture?
I don't think so, the ZIMBABWE debate seems to be far more important.

I think there may be a lack of interest in televising the game as they're probably not certain that it'll be a full day's entertainment if Scotland bat first.

I hate to play the oppressed Scot card Andrew but writing to Sky Sports will not make a blind bit of difference. Despite the fact we pay the same subscription fee as those in England sport in Scotland is woefully short changed when it comes to broadcasting by that organisation and scottish sport is treated with complete indifference.
Despite that though i was still absolutely staggered when i heard they weren't covering the match. It pains me to say that the BBC, a public service broadcaster no less, are heading in the same direction. Happy to show England football internationals but apparently putting in a serious bid for Scotland internationals is too much of a stretch.
Its not just cricket. Its football or nothing in this country at times.

Sky Sports excuse is other cricket commitments, despite the fact that there is no other international or major domestic match anywhere in the world on the 18th of August and they have four channels, plus the red button to show stuff on.
The BBC's excuse is the Olympics coverage, but considering there's an eight hour time difference between the UK and Beijing, most of what is on at the same time is repeats. The fact that they've paid millions and are devoting multiple hours of prime time television to a tournament that no "home nation" has qualified for makes the decision particularly galling.
No mention of whether ITV, Channel 4 or Channel 5 have been approached, and there is still the outside bet of Setanta Sports covering the game. I'd actually booked the day off work so that I could sit in and watch the game, so I'm especially annoyed.
I'd urge everyone to write to Sky Sports and the BBC expressing their disappointment at the decision. Be polite, and it may make a difference.
