Bready Cricket Club have announced that they have signed former West Indies "A" all-rounder Gavin Wallace aa Player/ Coach for the 2016 season.

Gavin currently plays his club cricket with St Catherine's in Jamaica, where he lines up alongside Eglinton's Oraine Williams, Newbuildings' Peat Salmon and is captained by former Killymallaght Pro Danza Hyatt.

The Jamaican spent most of his formative years as a front line leg spinner but has re-invented himself at club level as a top order batsman, and topped the club averages last season.

Bready have confirmed that the references they received from Oraine, Peat and Danza were excellent, and that the club was looking forward to welcoming Gavin to Magheramason in April.

"We also look forward to Gavin working along with the team of the coaches at the club and the various youth teams and schools which we are connected to" said a spokesman for David Scanlon's team."

The West Indian said he was delighted to be coming to Northern Ireland and looked forward to meeting his new team-mates.

"I would like to say thanks to Bready Cricket Club for formal inviting me to become a part of Bready family for the coming season.

"My aim is to be a pivotal part of the team's success going forward as I look to share my experience and skills on and off the field.

"I look forward to the experience of playing alongside my new club mates and hopefully we can build a bond that may last for seasons to come, although I expect challenges because this life would be nothing with out those".

"I expect however that with hard work and commitment from all at Bready we will be able to overcome whatever is sent our way."
