The Northern Knights are grasping the opportunity of some meaningful match practice ahead of their first game in the 1-Day Interprovincial series which is scheduled for the May Day Bank Holiday at Stormont.

As he did last year Jeremy Bray is bringing his Danish National side to Dublin for 3 days of cricket this coming weekend.

Matches are scheduled versus a Northern Knights XI on Friday 22nd at Balbriggan CC, a Hills Select XI on Saturday and Leinster Lightning on Sunday.
The Leinster game has been agreed as a 13 a side squad match - 11 to bat.
The Knights will not be able to avail of such a luxury.

The short notice at which the fixture was arranged means that the selectors had little choosing to do and that it was very much a case of who from the named squad was available to travel, the likelihood being that they will travel with a bare minimum of players for the match.

There could be extra duties on the pitch then for Andrew Rose who has been confirmed as Knights Team Manager for the coming season, a role which now includes some of the duties covered in previous seasons by the Team Administrator.

With a reasonable forecast all will be happy to get the chance to press a claim for selection for the match versus Leinster Lightning on Monday 2 May at Stormont.

The selectors will sit down early next week to name that squad and like the players will be glad of a chance to judge the early season form of their players.
