Malaysia and Nepal have qualified for the quarter finals at the Asian Games men's cricket tournament after beating China and the Maldives today in Incheon, South Korea.

China won the toss against Malaysia and chose to bat first. They scored slowly, with only six runs having been scored by the time captain Jiang Shuyao was the first man out in the fourth over. Lei Sun and Song Yang Yang put on 37 for the second wicket, but took 11 painstaking overs to do it.

Those two were the only Chinese batsmen to reach double figures as they crawled to 56-7 from their 20 overs. Faruq Hakimin was the pick of the Malaysian bowlers, taking 4-14 from his four overs.

Malaysia had little trouble chasing down that low target and did so in 9 overs to win by 9 wickets. They will play Hong Kong in Tuesday's quarter final. China will get another chance to reach the quarter finals when they play the hosts in their final group match tomorrow.

The Maldives also chose to bat first when they won the toss against Nepal, and got off to a terrible start with both openers out before a single run was scored. As with China, only two of their batsmen were able to reach double figures as they were bowled out for 53.

Nepal shared the wickets around, though there will be some concern that a bowling attack that didn't concede a single wide in the World Twenty20 earlier this year gave up 13 of them against the Maldives.

Nepal took their time chasing down their target, winning by 7 wickets after 14.2 overs. Subash Khakurel top scored with an unbeaten 27. Nepal will play Afghanistan in their quarter final on Wednesday, whilst the Maldives will play Kuwait tomorrow for a chance at also reaching the quarter finals.
