Merrion were convincing 10 wicket winners against a badly under-strength Derriaghy to reach the semi-finals of the Irish Senior Cup.

The Belfast side had an unfamiliar look missing six regulars and were blown away by a Merrion side who themselves were absent John Anderson and Tyrone Kane who were on international duty.

Derriaghy were further hampered by an injury to their professional Kaushik Aphale which meant he didn't bat as they were dismissed for just 54 runs.

Tom Stanton took 3 for 10, while there were two wickets apiece for Dom Joyce and Hugh Kennedy.

The Merrion run chase took only 39 balls with Patrick Tice hitting six boundaries in an unbeaten 33, while Michael Lewis hit 3 fours and a six in 20 not out.

There was no play possible in two of the others games between Waringstown v North County and Instonians v Phoenix, while only seven balls were played before the game between CIYMS and YMCA was called off.

Home advantage now reverts to the Leinster sides with the replays scheduled for Sunday July 17.
