As expected, the elements were the only winners on the second day of Scotland's Intercontinental cup match against the UAE.
The anticipated showers duly arrived after just six overs of play, and with more of the same forecast for the next two days the prospect of even a first-innings result looks increasingly fanciful.

Resuming the UAE innings on 198-5 Rameez Shahzad and Ahmed Raza looked largely untroubled as they saw out what there was of the day. Raza brought up the visitors' 200 with a leg glance off Davey for four in the second over of the day, and Shahzad hit the day's only boundary on the first ball of Davey's next over with a nicley time late cut through third man.

A speculative appeal for LBW two balls later was the only other occurrence of note, the pair adding another six runs in three uneventful overs before the rain put a stop to proceedings. With the forecast for tomorrow still worse and little prospect of improvement on Friday, it's doubtful even a sporting declaration could prevent a 7-point per side draw.
