Ireland slumped to a seven wicket loss against Trinidad & Tobago 'B' in their latest warm-up match in the Caribbean.

Having been put it to bat, openers William Porterfield and Paul Stirling added 49 in just 33 balls before the skipper fell for 24. Stirling continued in his usual belligerent style, hitting 9 boundaries in the top score of 44 from just 27 balls. His dismissal saw the run rate slow appreciably as Ireland found difficulty in scoring boundaries.

Kevin O'Brien (9), Gary Wilson (5) and James Shannon (3) all fell cheaply in a vain attempt to accelerate. Andrew Poynter made an unbeaten 27 from 33 balls, while Niall O'Brien's 19 not out came from 18 deliveries as the Irish finished in 141 for 5.

Tim Murtagh (1-21) struck with his second ball, but Kjorn Ottley dominated a second wicket stand of 51 with Aaron Alfred (15), hitting 41 from just 27 balls (6 fours, 2 sixes). Kevin O'Brien (1-23) and Andrew McBrine (1-16) struck in quick succession to bring Ireland right back into contention at 56 for 3.

However, an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 87 between skipper Justin Guillen (51*) and Daron Cruickshank (35*) saw the young Trinidad and Tobago team safely home with nine balls to spare. Guillen's Man of the Match unbeaten 51 occupied just 34 balls and included 5 fours and a six. Cruickshank was content to play second fiddle, with his undefeated 35 taking 37 balls and containing 4 boundaries.

Ireland fly to Jamaica today (SAT) where they will play West Indies next week in two T20I's and a solitary one-day international. These games take place on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
