1785 First recorded cricket match in Scotland takes place at Schaw Park Alloa.
1825 Formation of Kelso CC.
1849 Scotland's first ever representative cricket match-22 of Scotland play the All England XI in Edinburgh. C Lawrence takes all 10 wickets during the All England XI second innings.
1865 Scotland play their first full International when they travel to the Oval to meet Surrey and win by 172 runs.
1872 Scotland play England at football, the first ever football international in the world, at West of Scotland's Hamilton Crescent cricket ground.
1878 A West of Scotland XI play against Australia in Glasgow during their first ever tour to the British Isles.
1879 First Scottish Cricket union formed.
1880 Scotland play Australia in Edinburgh and lose by 6 wickets.
1882 Scotland defeat Australia by 7 wickets in a one innings match.
1883 First Scottish Cricket union becomes defunct, mainly due to financial difficulties. Grange CC take over the organisation of representative matches.
1888 Scotland meet Ireland for the first time at Rathmines Dublin with the Irish victorious by 26 runs.
1893 First Western District Cricket Union Championship shared by Greenock and Clydesdale.
1893 Northern Counties win the first North of Scotland League.
1894 Scotland play South Africa for the first time.
1895 Selkirk win the first Border League.
1902 Forfarshire win the first Scottish Counties Championship.
1906 Scotland play West Indies for the first time.
1909 The second Scottish Cricket Union was formed.
1911 Scotland meet All India at Galashiels.
1923 Scotland meet Wales at the North Inch Perth.
1927 Scotland play New Zealand in Glasgow with the match ending in a draw.
1929 Brechin win the inaugural Strathmore Union.
1948 Sir Don Bradman makes his last appearance in the British Isles against Scotland at Mannofield Aberdeen, scoring a century.
1953 Grange win the first East of Scotland League.
1954 Scotland play Pakistan in Edinburgh.
1963 Almond Valley win the first Perthshire Cricket League.
1966 Kelburne win the first Scottish Cup.
1975 Inter District Championship established.
1980 Scotland meet Leicestershire in their first B & H Trophy match at Titwood Glasgow.
1983 Scotland play their first match in the Nat West trophy losing by 88 runs to Gloucestershire in Bristol.
1986 Scotland win their first B & H Trophy match when they defeat Lancashire by 3 runs at the North Inch Perth.
1992 Scotland resigns from membership of the UK Cricket Council.
1993 Scotland play in their first Triple Crown competition.
1994 Scotland elected to Associate Membership of the ICC.
1994 Scotland win the Triple Crown for the first time.
1996 Scotland participate in the first European Championships.
1997 Scotland come third in their first ICC Trophy competition.
1998 Scotland defeat Worcestershire by 4 runs in the Nat West Trophy in Edinburgh.
1998 First matches in the Scottish National League take place.
1998 Scotland participate in the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.
1998 Scotland play in their first Under 19 World Cup in South Africa.
1999 Scotland meet Australia in their first match ever in the ICC World Cup.
2003 Scotland defeat Durham County in their first ever National Cricket League fixture.
2004 Scotland win the inaugural Intercontinental Cup after beating Canada in Sharjah.
2005 Scotland defeat hosts Ireland in Dublin to win the ICC Trophy for the first time.
2006 Scotland undertake their first ODI series abroad when they travel to Bangladesh in December where they lose the series 2-0
2007 Scotland participate in the first World Cricket League Division 1 tournament in Kenya, losing to the hosts in the final. They however qualified for the inaugural Twenty20 Championship in South Africa later in the year where the lost to Pakistan and saw their match against India abandoned without a ball being bowled. They also participated in the World Cup in the West Indies losing their matches against Australia, South Africa and the Netherlands.
2008 Scotland open season at Lord's, playing MCC in a match to trial pink cricket balls. Trial unsuccessful!
First ever visit to Bermuda, winning an Inter Continental Cup game.
First ever match against the full England team, an abandoned ODI played at Raeburn Place, Edinburgh.
Played in inaugural ICC Twenty20 Qualifier, winning a place in the 2009 competition in England.
