There was more good news for the North West Cricket Union after Long's Supervalu agreed to remain senior league sponsor for another season at least.

The local Supermarket chain had initially signed up to a 3-year deal in 2012 with the option of a 4th term, which they accepted ahead of last summer.

A further extension to cover 2016 will no doubt sit well with Andrew Fleming and his Board and a spokesman for the North West agreed that the partnership had worked out well to this point".

"The fact that Long's Supervalu is a firmly established family business within the region makes them an excellent fit for our sport. They have been wonderful supporters of North West cricket and their assistance has allowed us to continue the growth and development of the game here at grass roots"

"We're hopefully on the verge of a really special time in Irish cricket and our Union has made a significant contribution to the rapid progess that has been going on".

"In thanking Long's Supervalu for their generosity and loyalty we are hopeful that the association between both parties will continue to grow even beyond 2016".

"Obviously we would also ask the cricket community within the North West to support our sponsors wherever possible".
