This Saturday sees the first round of the Leinster Senior Cup, one of the last competitions in the world to be played as a 60 over a side game.

Much attention will focus on the match at Balbriggan where North County are the visitors. The home team contains three former County players – John Mooney, Duane Harper and Paddy Martin – while the away team will feature former Balbriggan player Nathan Rooney. I go for County to edge home in a close contest unless Muhammad Farrukh finds his batting boots.

Also in Fingal, The Hills entertain Pembroke, a match they should win, and further south Malahide welcome Rush, a game which the Village People should win.

Further into town, but still on DNS (De North Side), Phoenix play YMCA in the Park (away win) and Clontarf host Leinster (home win). The final tie is in The Mardyke, where Cork County will beat Railway Union.

In Division 2, Dublin University play their last match in this league when they meet Terenure on the magic carpet in Dublin 6W. It's difficult to see past a home win. On Monday there is a Division 1 match when Malahide host Pembroke in a 13:00 hours kick-off: away win?
