European Under 19 World Cup Qualifier 2015
Jersey make it a doubly bad day for Dutch cricket
The senior side lost to Oman in the World Twenty20 Qualifier this morning, and a bad day for Dutch cricket got worse as they lost to Jersey in the European Under-19 Championship.
Playing at Grainville, Dutch captain Sikander Zulfiqar won the toss and chose to bat first. Pieter De Graaff led the way early on with 42, sharing in a 55 run partnership for the second wicket with Saqib Zulfiqar.
Captain Sikander Zulfiqar top scored for the Dutch with 45 as they scored 192 before they were bowled out. William Robertson and Harrison Carlyon both took three wickets, with Carlyon going for just 14 runs in his ten overs.
Jersey paced their run chase well, starting quickly, consolidating once the powerplay overs were done with before accelerating past the required rate. Solomon Warner top scored with 52, whilst James Duckett scored 41 from 35 balls towards the end of the run chase.
Robert Duckett and Harrison Carlyon then guided the team home to a three wicket win with 3.3 overs to spare. The Dutch will look to bounce back tomorrow when they play Scotland, whilst Jersey's next match will be against table toppers Ireland.
