Scotland were invited to bat at Rugby School in their penultimate match in the ICC Europe Under 15 Championship.

They made the most of the opportunity as the batsmen plundered runs from the Danish bowling finishing on 301 for 8 in their fifty over allocation.

Tom Diamond top scored with 68 from 84 balls in an innings that included four fours and four sixes.

He was well supported by the other players with four batsmen making thirty or more.

In replay the Danes recovered from 31 for 2 to reach 138 for 3 thanks to Premachandran and Henriksen.

Once Diamond snapped up the wicket of Premachandran for 49 in the thirtieth over, thanks to a brilliant catch by Angus Guy, the Danish batting collapsed to 197 all out with only Henricksen (56) and Akhtar (22*) reaching double figures.

Robert Edwards with 4 for 26 was the best Scottish bowler with the other wickets being shared out.

After the match a delighted Scotland Coach Alan Patterson paid tribute to his team remarking that “I am very pleased with the batting today, particularly the partnership between Tom Diamond and Aidan Brown which gave us the platform that allowed Robbie and Ihtisham to land some lusty blows. We had to fight hard in the field with Angus Gay’s outstanding catch breaking an excellent third wicket partnership. Credit to the Danes who batted well right down the order, but we’re happy to have bowled them out for another solid victory.

Scotland will now meet Ireland tomorrow in the final match of the tournament knowing that only a comprehensive win will give them the title on net run rate.
